Rachel's Sleepover Party

It's 9:45pm and Rachel has already said "OK, is everybody ready to turn off the movie now, because I'm tired and ready to go to sleep."

At her own party.

Apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

I wasn't much of a party animal myself. Until I was a bit older. Older as in, it's really too late to be a "party animal." I content myself with late night reading. Which is what I did in my "party" years.

So, we'll see how late they make it. It is a Friday night after a full week of school and they tend to be pretty tired. I'll check on them before 11 and make sure the lights are out.

We did survive the early part of the evening when the 'boys' were still here. Rachel chose a small but mixed group. They were certainly entertaining. It would have been easier on our ears and our neighbors ceiling if we had been able to have the "Pool Party" as planned. But as fate would have it, Switzerland is moving into Fall with showers and thunderstorms. They made it into the pool during a break in the weather - water temp was warmer than air temp.

I'm not used to having preteen boys in the house. They are a different breed. But fun. And didn't need to be entertained as they were the entertainment.

So, another Birthday party, another terribly decorated Birthday cake (although it tastes yummy and my kids insist they love the cakes I decorate - they really are awkward looking) and another one coming up in Oct. I think I'll fall asleep tonight before the party girls. But after Rachel! :)

That's great! My favorite line in this post: "I'm not used to having preteen boys in the house. They are a different breed. But fun. And didn't need to be entertained as they were the entertainment." Too, too funny! Have a great weekend!

Thanks Sarah - I'd say 'just wait' but figure you have some experience from teaching OR from Josh's Valley days. :)

We just got home about an hour ago from a day-trip to Beatenberg, and I sat down with my laptop ... and wondered about your party and how it went!

Lo and behold, you have satisfied my curiosity! I'm glad it went well, in spite of the weather. You have lived thru your first "middle school party" - good for you!
